Veterinary Exam

At Simcoe Animal Hospital, we do a full physical examination from head to toe yearly, to make sure your pet is happy and healthy. Regular physical examinations by a veterinarian can help detect health concerns early which can prevent severe complications later in life. If you are new to the Simcoe Animal Hospital family, please take a moment before your first visit and call us at 519.426.0111 so that we can let you know what you need to bring for your first appointment.

We understand that you have a lot on your plate. For this reason, we do our very best to accommodate your busy schedule! We book medical consultations Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. If you and your pet are unable to stop by for an in-person visit, we also offer virtual consultations via phone, chat and video. How often should a pet go to the vet?

Although each pet is different, we recommend that they come in for a full veterinary exam at least once a year. More visits may be suggested for younger pets, those with certain health conditions and those in their senior years.

What happens during a veterinary exam?

Your veterinarian will conduct a tip-to-tail visual exam on your pet. They will check their mobility, appearance, sight, hearing, breathing, weight and other health factors. Diagnostics such as urine/fecal sampling, blood work, ultrasounds and more may also be performed so we can get a comprehensive picture of your furry friend’s well-being.
