Euthanasia Services for Pets

When pets approach the end of their lives, it is the most painful time of being an owner. We understand the decision to allow your pet to pass way through euthanasia may seem like an impossible one to make. At the end of the day, the choice is always yours. Our team will be here for you to explain all of the options you have, and answer any of your questions about this humane procedure. You are welcome to call us to learn more about how you can say goodbye to your beloved pet.

What is pet euthanasia and how do I know when it’s the right time?

Choosing the right time to proceed with this decision can be challenging for you and other members of your family. Our veterinary team is here to support you and guide you through this difficult time. Some factors that may help you in making your decision are: if your pet is in chronic pain that cannot be managed by medications, if they are no longer able to eat/ digest food properly, if your pet is no longer mobile, or if they can no longer take part in activities they previously enjoyed (e.g. playing, walking).

How is euthanasia administered in pets?

The procedure is 100% pain-free and takes only a few minutes to complete. You and your family can be with your pet throughout the entire process. The medication is typically administered via an IV injection. The medication will cause your pet to peacefully lose consciousness. Then, it will cause their organs to fail. At Simcoe Animal Hospital, we strive to provide a safe and comforting environment for you and your loved ones. Please do not hesitate to call us at 519.426.0111 to learn more about our euthanasia process and protocols.
